Dancing with the Stars
I stepped out onto the back porch late this evening and a cool breeze drifted arcoss my brow. Now, the words...cool breeze...summer....and Houston have never actually been uttered in the same sentence. Needless to say I felt very strange as if something unique was happening , something to which I should be paying attention .
My eyes were drawn to the deep obsidian black of the sky ,a virtually cloudless night, and despite the darkness there were only two stars visible..... two specks of sparkling light, so far away that what I was seeing had happened a long long time ago, thousands of years, before everything.....two stars only, and they were doing something very disturbing, something stars do not and have never done....two stars and they were.....dancing.
Dancing?
It takes a moment for the strangeness of that to sink in, it takes a moment longer to begin questioning yourself and your sobriety, sanity or mortality. A hard pinch on the thigh, a shake the cobwebs head bob and another look up into the pitchblack night sky.
Two stars.
Dancing.
Their movements were wildly erratic, jerky and swift but together, always together as one. The harder I tried to follow their dips and twirls, the darting, shifting movements the faster they got.
A miracle.
I had been presented with an honest to god miracle. I watched the little dustbunnys of light, their joy and enthusiasm never waining. Pure magic. A sign for me only. My life was changing. God showing me the joy that could be mine. I felt tears coming to my eyes and I looked away from the dancing suns and bowed my head. Then words came to me instantly, from nowhere.....
YOU ARE NOT WEARING YOUR GLASSES AND YOU HAVE A STIGMATISM, you moron...............................................................................
